Riceville Wildcats 0 16 14 30
The Cricket Captains were #2 Brody “the Roughrider” Houston, #6 Layne Parks, #24 Josh Johnson (of Team Johnson), and #41 Nate Rohen. Loudon (4-0) won the coin toss and wanted the ball.
The Riceville Wildcats were a very good team; they arrived with an undefeated 3-0 record. Our Crickets played toe to toe with the ‘Cats. Four big plays did us in – a 99 yard run (tied the longest touchdown run shared by Arnold Hawkins (LHS) vs LC in 1966 and Jesse Booth, Loudon Indian 2003 vs Riceville), a 69 yard interception return for a touchdown, a 65 yard touchdown run, and a 40 yard touchdown run. Now those are the type of plays we’re used to inflicting on opponents, not receiving!
#26 Dylan “Pickle” Russell was the offensive bright spot rushing for 83 yards on 20 carries, the outstanding defender was #44 Colton Brown with three tackles.
The Crickets (4-1) fall from the un-defeated ranks and were shut out in three quarters by the Wildcats. Total offense was 128 yards on 33 rushes, way below their season average.
