Representing the Big Red Hoppers for the coin toss were Captains #80 Clay Jenkins and #88 Zack “Unit 2” Mashburn. Loudon won the coin toss and wanted the football. On the second play from scrimmage, #35 Jack “The Ironman” Nichols II rolled for a 66 yard touchdown! #21 “Double J” Joshua “Action” Jackson hooked up with the extra points.

In the second quarter, Nichols rang it up again, this time from the two yard line. Wes Hutton #72 cruised around the left end untouched for the conversion points. The Referees thought we celebrated a bit too much, and assessed a -15 yard penalty after the play. The Knights managed a score to pull within 10 points, but that’s as close as they would get.

There were no points scored in the third and fourth periods; underclassmen got lots of playing time.

Outstanding defenders were #54 Caleb Green with nine tackles, the Mashburn brothers combined for nine stops, and #43 Rodger “Red Shoes” Waddell, #55 David “Woodrow” Woody, & #45 Anthony Johnson each added four tackles as well.

Back on the winning track, the Hoppers (3-1) are victorious 16-6. Total offense was 231 yards. Rushing accounted for 214 yards on 23 attempts for two touchdowns and two 2-point conversions. Passing by quarterback #43 Rodger “Red Shoes” Waddell added 16 yards.
