This was a do or die game for the Hoppers. Win and advance to the playoffs, loose and watch from the grand stands. The good thing was that our destiny was in our own hands…we didn’t need help from anyone else. And the Hoppers responded with a resounding victory 26-8.

The first three plays of the ball game set the tone for the rest of the game! #21 “Double J” Joshua “Action” Jackson scored on the first play from 65 yards out! On Madisonville’s first play they fumbled, it was recovered by #35 Jack “The Ironman” Nichols II on the 38 yard line! On the third play, Jackson was at it again, scooting around the left end for his second touchdown in only 31 seconds!

Our Hopper defense was playing equally well, forcing punts and stopping the Tornados on downs.

The second period saw two scores by Nichols II, from 50 and 16 yards out. #72 Wes Hutton scampered around the end for a 2-point conversion.

Making it look easy, the Hoppers lead 26-8 at the half.

The second half was a defensive stalemate, as neither team could muster a score.

Offensively, the one two punch of Jackson and Nichols II was too much for the Tornados. Outstanding defenders were #24 Brandon “Newt” Burnette with seven tackles, #43 Rodger “Red Shoes” Waddell posted six stops, and #47 Macklyn “The Mac Attack” Russell and #88 Zack “Unit 2” Mashburn had four knock downs each.

Rushing accounted for 181 yards on 16 attempts for four touchdowns and a 2-point conversion.

In a very satisfying game, the Hoppers (5-4) qualify for the post season as the #5 seed and are victorious 26-8.
