Now for the main event. The date was October 2nd, 2004. On a foggy night the Indian faithful traveled to Vonore, where the Blue Devils handed your Loudon Indians a 6-0 defeat. This embarrassing loss would be the only blemish on an otherwise stellar season. This game has been circled on the Indian players and coaches’ calendars for just under a year now. The rumor mill was in full swing, with word getting back to Vonore that we were going to try and score 100 points! Let’s see what happened.

Captains were #16 Nick Roach, #34 David Lee Haskins, and #98 Jeffery Nichols. The Blue devils won the coin toss and wanted the football. They promptly went three and out. #81 Samuel Curtis returned the punt 25 yards. On the running of #27 Kadrean Brewster, the Big Red drove down the field. Brewster vaulted in from the one yard line, hitting pay dirt. After posting the conversion points by #9 Matthew Wallace, the clock showed 3:04 left in the first quarter.

In the second period, Wallace won the race, outrunning everyone in route to a 25 yard touchdown. Devin Grissom #39 cracked the goal line for the 2-point conversion. After another defensive stop, the Indians took to the air. Quarterback #4 Zach Franklin connected with Haskins for a 59 yard pitch and catch. #38 Nick Brown made good on the extra points. There you have it, a solid half of football with the score 24-nothing, your Loudon Indians.

The Second half yielded more of the same. After Brown returned the kick-off 17 yards, the Red Men set up camp on the 37 yard line. Brown on the loose again, was churning up real estate to the tune of 21 yards, he carried the ball down to the Vonore 46 yard line. What can Brown do for you? Air Franklin found his favorite target again, Haskins stiff armed a smaller defensive back on his way to the final score of the day.

Total offense was 363 yards. Rushing accounted for 201 yards on 21 attempts for two touchdowns and three 2-point conversion. Passing accumulated 105 yards and two touchdowns. Special teams added 57 yards on kick-off and punt returns. Go Indians!
