Out for the coin toss were Mustang Captains #15 Michael Costner, #39 Tyler Oody, #66 Zach Johnson (of Team Johnson), #79 Chase Whitmire, #92 Tyler Walters, and #99 Hunter Rodgers. The Knights won the coin toss and deferred until the second half.

The kick-off was fielded and #20 Brandon Tallent ended up with the ball on a reverse, earning a 23 yard return. After a penalty was stepped off, the Mustangs started first and 10 on the 46 yard line. A 10 play drive ate up 6:48 of the first quarter and culminated in a four yard touchdown by #30 Trey “The Train” Townson. Townson also posted the extra points.

The Knights first possession was stopped by #34 Ryano McNabb with an interception. The Reds returned the favor by fumbling the ball away.

After forcing an Etowah punt, Loudon drove down and scored from the two yard line. Townson vaulted in the end zone and also added the 2-point conversion himself. At the intermission, Loudon leads 16-0.

Loudon kicks off to start the second half. Hustling down to recover the on-sides kick was #20 Brandon Tallent! That turnover resulted in eight points, as #36 Jake “The Snake” Mourfield blasted off on a 20 yard strike. Mourfield also made good on the extra points. Etowah scores in the third and fourth stanzas trying to make a game of it. This was too little too late as the Mustangs (4-0) close out a 24-12 victory.

Top defenders were #21 Trey Horton who added six tackles, #48 Caleb Russell had three knock-downs and a sack, and #34 Ryan McNabb logged three stops and an interception.

Total offense was 231 yards. Rushing accounted for 208 yards on 37 attempts for three touchdowns and three 2-point conversions. Special teams provided 23 kick off return yards.
