Out for the coin toss were Mustang Captains #3 Nick Keck, #50 Cody “The Manic” Manis, #72 Marshall Lynn, #86 Bryant Horton. Sweetwater won the coin toss and deferred until the second half.

The ‘Stangs were out avenge a week 6 loss to Mr. Patrick Lindsey #12 and the Sweetwater Wildcats by a score of 14-6. The Mustangs wanted the football first; their goal was to drive down and score – to set the tone for the game! That’s exactly what happened. 13 plays and just over 7 minutes allowed the Mustangs to dominate the first quarter! Big plays in the drive were an 18 yard gain by #34 Ryano McNabb and an 11 yard scamper by #18 Zack Sellars. Bulling across from the three yard line was #30 Trey Townson! Although the conversion failed, the Mustangs are leading 6-0 at the end of one quarter of play.

Sweetwater would tie up the score on a long touchdown run by Lindsey. The score came with 5:13 left in the second half. Mr. Lindsey is an excellent running back, our Mustang defense had to account for him on every play.

The score at intermission was 6-6.

Kicking –off to start the second half, the Mustangs attempted an on-sides kick; Sweetwater recovered and had good field position on the 48 yard line. A couple of plays later a big hit by #55 Jonathan Dorsett knocked the ball loose. Alertly pouncing on that loose pigskin was #20 Brandon Tallent!

A big run by Townson of 26 yards earned a first down on first down. Three plays later the ‘Stangs were punting. The rest of the third quarter passed uneventful.

Sweetwater had started a drive on their own 20 yard line that spanned the third and fourth periods. On the first play of the fourth, Lindsey was off to the races… a 68 yard touchdown. With the 2-point conversion, the score is now 14-6. There was still plenty of time left with 7:39 on the clock.

Loudon took to the air but was intercepted on the third down. The ‘Cats were forced to punt by the Big Red Mustang “D”, putting the offense back on the field on the 47 yard line. On first down the half back pass was intercepted. The ‘Stang “D” came up with another big stop, #9 Sam Eldridge recovers a Sweetwater fumble on the 44 yard line. Loudon has a chance with 2:52 left in the game to tie up the score. In the shot gun formation, the snap got away from #4 Justin Franklin. Tallent recovered, but 16 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That would do it; Sweetwater took over on downs and ran out the remaining clock.

The MVP Back was awarded to #30 Trey Townson, while the MVP Line was presented #59 Daron Stachowicz.

Total offense was 127 yards. Rushing accounted for 93 yards on 31 attempts, kick-off returns added 34 yards. The Mustangs (5-5) are eliminated from post season play by a final score of 14-6 (the same score an in week 6).
