Out for the coin toss were Mustang Captains #4 Justin Franklin, #5 Dalton “Happy” Lively, #9 Sam Eldridge, #33 Beau Sellars, #47 Payne Bennett, and #74 Tony Elliott. Loudon won the coin toss and deferred until the second half.

The Big Red Mustang defense had a tough day at the office; they spent a lot of time on the field in the first half. Sweetwater scored on a 35 yard run in the first period and on a 39 yard run in the second quarter; #12 Patrick Lindsey scored both ‘Cat touchdowns.

It’s a concern of the coaching staff – how to get this team out of their offensive funk. The total offense and scoring production has been cut in half compared to earlier in the season.

At the half the Wildcats were ahead 14-0.

The ‘Skins received the second half kick-off and embarked on a scoring drive that ate up the entire third period. Getting the nod was #30 Trey “The Train” Townson who scored with 10 seconds left in the third. Hustling down on the on-sides kick attempt was #20 Brandon Tallent, who recovered the live pigskin! First and 10, Mustangs. With the score now 14-6, all the Mustangs had to do was score and add the 2-point conversion to tie this thing up. That scenario almost played out as the Mustangs (4-2) drove down to about the five yard line before stalling out on downs. The clock showed 2:16 left in the game. Sweetwater was able to run the rest of the time out, winning the game by a score of 14-6.

Defensive stalwarts included #64 Alex “The Kingpin” Silvey (of the Silvey Mafia) with five tackles, a sack, and caused a fumble; also #34 Ryan McNabb added four tackles.

Total offense was 158 yards. Rushing accounted for 131 yards on 34 attempts for one touchdown. Passing added 27 yards on two completions.
