The Loudon Mustangs (9-1) defeated the Etowah Knights (8-2) in week six by a
score of 8-0. Everyone expected a close game in the rematch. #10 Dain McNabb
bulled in from the 3 yd line. The score was tied 6-6 at the half. The Knights
scored on a 63-yd scamper to go up 12-6 in the 3rd period. Midway through the
4th quarter, the Loudon offense put together a sustained drive capped off by a
one yard plunge to pay dirt by #30 Tommy Brown. The ever-important extra points
were added by #10 Dain McNabb to give the Mustangs the lead 14-12. Loudon
kicked-off to Etowah, the Knight offense marched down the field all the way to
the 20-yard line. #44 Caleb Giles was injured on the previous play. For
precautionary measures an ambulance was called, Caleb was taken to the hospital
(neck injury). Caleb was later treated and released from a local hospital. The
game was delayed about 45 minutes, would the Knights keep the momentum? On the
first play, the Loudon defense delivered a sack for -10 yds. Second down yielded
the same result, a -10 yd loss. On the third play, #21 Isaac Peters picked off a
pass to seal the win. Final score 14-12, The Big Red! The Loudon Mustangs (10-1)
go on to the “Big Show” and have a rematch against Riceville (11-0) who
handed the ‘Stangs their only loss this season in week one, 6-0 in over time.
The Mustangs are the standing league champions, winning 3 out of the last 4
crowns.
