Hoppers 12 - Athens 6

The Loudon Hoppers fared better than their little brothers, eking out a 12-6 victory. The Hoppers won the toss, and wanted the ball. Head Coach David Matlock wanted to set the tone of the game early. After pounding # 36 Trey “The Train” Townsend straight ahead for four plays to loosen up the defense, #21 Zach Sellers play faked, and ran a keeper around the left side for a six yard touchdown. The conversion attempt was no good. Athens countered with a nice drive capped off with a 78 yard TD. Six to six was the score at the half. It wasn‘t until late in the fourth quarter that #36 Townsend banged in from the two yard line. The game wasn‘t as close as the score indicated. The Hoppers had 185 yards of total offense and gave up the one big play on defense.
