Week 2, and the Loudon Quarterback Club teams caravanned to McMinn Co. High School, where the Athens Jr. Cherokees hosted the games. The sun was scorching hot, but the Loudon Quarterback Club teams were HOTTER! We took four (4) more Big Ones, running our total to eight (8) wins vs. zero losses. We travel to Greenback (Greenback’s record is 7-1) next Saturday (9-4-2004), first game at 3:00 pm.
The Crickets picked up where they left off last week, and added another “W” to the win column. Although the score was tied at the half, 12 each, the Chirpers prevailed in the end. It was an exciting ball game. Our defense played bend but don’t break, while the offense broke several big plays. #8 Jack “The Iron Man” Nichols II posted touchdowns of 14 and 47 yards. #24 “Double J” Joshua “Action” Jackson burned the Cherokees’ defense with a 65 yard touchdown run to open the second half. The defense was led by #34 Isaiah Lowe, with five tackles plus three stops behind the line of scrimmage. The Crickets had 26 rushes for 283 yards, four touchdowns, and two 2-pt. conversions.
