The Hoppers had their hands full. #36 Jake “The Snake” Mourfield burned the ‘Cat’s defense for 56 yards and a touchdown on the third offensive play of the game. That would be the only score of the first half. The game see-sawed back and forth between the 35 yard lines, with neither team able to gain an advantage. Sweetwater would tie up the game in the third period. Later in this same period, your Loudon Hoppers were on the move. Mourfield again applied the exclamation point, going the distance with an 80 yard gold rush for another Hopper touchdown. That would be all the scoring, as neither team could muster an extra point conversion. The top Hopper defender was #68 Cody Manis with eight knock downs, with #36 Jake “The Monster Man” Mourfield adding four stops. We’re still not used to such close Hopper games. 27 rushes for 207 yards and two touchdowns powered the victory.
