The #1 seed Loudon Mustangs (12-0) verses #2 seed Lenoir City “B” Panthers (10-2) was the third game on the evening. In week #8 of the regular season, your Loudon Mustangs defeated the Panthers 30-8.
Lenoir City won the toss, and deferred until the second half. The on sides kick off attempt was caught and downed by #54 Luke Newman on the 49 yard line. First and 10 Loudon Mustangs. On the first play #80 Cody “The Eagle” Choate coughed up the football. L.C. takes over on the 38 yard line. But, they gave it back on their second play from scrimmage. #54 Luke Newman recovered the loose football on the 30 yard line. Five plays later, #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons plowed across from the 15 yard line.
The Panthers were having ball control issues, as they fumbled again on their first play. #59 Daron “Big D” Stachovicz pounced on that loose football.
Back in business, the potent Mustang offense wasted little time converting that turn over into points. #22 Nick Brown (of “Team Brown”) ate up the real estate in route to a 66 yard touchdown. Brown also posted the extra points.
The Panthers finally were able to put the ball in play without fumbling. However, the nine play drive came up dry. Stalling out on downs, the Redskins took over on their own 25 yard line.
With 7:12 left in the second quarter, the Mustangs drove 75 yards in only seven plays. QB “Sweetness” called his own number, vaulting across from the four.
Lenoir City could not convert on fourth down, and turned the football over on downs. Head Coach Bradshaw wanted another score before the intermission. With the football on the 48 yard line and 1:18 left on the clock, the Mustangs took to the air. QB Plemons connects with #31 Noah Maples for a 25 yard gain, and they fires an aerial to #7 Eric Newman who was tackled on the three yard line as time expired.
Brown would break the plane late in the third stanza, from the eight yard line to finish the scoring for the Mustangs.
#5 Chad Nabors put the Panthers on the score board midway through the final period; he also posted the 2-point conversion.
Top defenders were: #34 Mathew P. “Minute Rice” Kiser and #27 Samuel Eldridge with 8 tackles each, and #21 Trey Horton and #64 Dalton “Happy” Lively added six takedowns each.
Tallying 30 rushes for 318 yards, four touchdowns, and one 2-point conversion powered the Championship victory. Quarterback, #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons was 3 of 6 passing for 70 yards. Total offense was 388 yards.
The Offensive MVP was awarded to #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons, while the Defensive MVP was bestowed on #34 Matthew P. “Minute Rice” Kiser.
The dream season is capped off with an exclamation point, as the Loudon Mustangs (13-0) run the table, and prevail 26-8, in this Championship Game!
