This was the game everyone talked about for weeks. What if L.C. “B” comes in here undefeated and 7-0? Well the dream match-up was exactly that… two undefeated teams battling it out for first place in the conference standings. As things turned out, it was a little anticlimactical as the outcome of the game was never in question.

The Panthers kicked-off, the football was fielded by #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons, he handed off to #7 Eric “Brillo Pad” Newman on a reverse. Newman scooted up field for a 25 yard return. First and 10 Mustangs, with the ball on the Panther 38-yard line. On the first offensive play from scrimmage, #22 Nick Brown (of “Team Brown”) ripped off a 38-yard touchdown scamper! Brown would also add the 2-point conversion. Eight to zip, ‘Stangs. That was basically it; Loudon would score in each of the following three periods of play. Brown would score his second touchdown in the second quarter, a two yarder. Plemons used the bootleg to score from the three yard line late in the third stanza. With 1:38 left in the game, #30 Trey “The Train” Townson finished off the scoring with a one yard blast. Our guests scored in the third quarter against our second team defense.

The ‘Stang defense forced two turnovers: #22 Nick Brown intercepted a pass and returned it 24 yards and #21 Trey Horton hustled down and recovered an on-sides kick. Your Mustangs offense turned these turnovers into points, and played down hill all afternoon. Tallying 38 rushes for 176 yards, four touchdowns, and three 2-point conversions powered the victory. Quarterback, #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons passed for 25 yards to #80 Cody “The Eagle” Choate. The Mustangs (8-0) are the only team in the conference to have clinched a playoff spot. #5 Chad Nabors and #75 Cody Bluford had good games for the visiting Panthers.
