Madisonville won the toss and wanted the ball. The first quarter was a defensive struggle, as both teams swapped punts.
The second stanza was a different story though, the potent ‘Stangs scored twice. #31 Noah Maples intercepted an arrant Tornado aerial. The offense promptly turned that turn over into points. The drive was capped off by #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons, who drew first blood from the one yard line.
Set to kick off, the Mustangs kicked short, hustling down to recover the on-sides kick was #22 Nick Brown (of “Team Brown”). With the short field, all it took was six plays to score. Bolting across the goal line for the 10 yard touchdown and the 2-pt. conversion as well was Brown! There was 3:05 left in the first half.
The third stanza was uneventful; let’s move on to the fourth. Madisonville scored, to make the score 14-8. For insurance, Brown scored his second touchdown of the day, a five yarder.
#30 Trey “The Train” Townson broke his leg during the game; he will be missed on this late season push for another Conference Championship.
Top defenders were #55 Big Cody Crass with five tackles and #31 Noah Maples added four tackles and intercepted a pass.
The Mustangs posted 31 rushes for 210 yards, three touchdowns, and two 2-pt. conversions. QB #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons attempted two passes to #81 Kirk Broussard, on extra point conversions, they were both incomplete.
The undefeated Loudon Mustangs (10-0, #1 seed) complete a 20-8 victory.
