The Sweetwater Cutters played heads-up with our potent Mustangs. Only trailing by eight points after the first quarter, the ‘Cats were gaining confidence. #22 Nick Brown (of “Team Brown”) drew first blood on a four yard blast to put the ‘Stangs up, eight to zip. In the second stanza, S’water posted a score of their own (conversion failed). Now it’s a different ball game. The lethal, one two punch of Sweetwater’s #11 John Michael Knuckles and #12 Kadrian Brewster was split up when Brewster retired with an injury. After that, the ‘Cats were not the same. Loudon capitalized on this by adding two scores just before half time. Brown put up a 20 yard score. #21 Trey Horton hustled down and recovered the on-sides kick. Wade “Sweetness” Plemons wasted little time and posted a 53 yarder. At the half the ‘Stangs lead 24 to 6. The third quarter was a stale mate, and closed scoreless. Plemons wasn’t finished with the Sweetwater end zone though, as he motored in for a 35 yard touchdown. The ‘Stangs posted 32 rushes for 238 yards, four touchdowns, and four 2-pt. conversions on the day.
