The Mustangs won the toss and deferred. #31 Noah Maples hustled down and recovered the short kick off. First and ten Mustangs. All for naught though, as the ‘Stangs fumbled the ball back to Vonore. The Devils were three and out. With the punt, the potent Mustang offense went to work. On an end around, #7 Eric “Brillo Pad” Newman scoots 55 yards to draw first blood. Quarterback #23 Wade “Sweetness” Plemons passes to #31 Maples for the conversion. That would be the score at half time.
With the 18 yard kick off return by “Sweetness” Plemons, the Mustangs put together a nine play drive that ate up most of the third quarter. #22 Nick Brown (of “Team Brown”) got the call from the three yard line. Touchdown Mustangs. Brown would finish the scoring with another three yard surge in the fourth period. #30 Trey “The Train” Townson adds the 2-point conversion. It wasn’t an easy game, but the Mustang defense pitched a shutout. Brown caused a Devil fumble that was recovered by #62 Bill Hutton. #17 Jacob “Crazy Legs” Rice had two pass break ups, #55 Cody Crass logged two sacks for -13 yards. The Mustangs posted 33 rushes for 205 yards, three touchdowns, one 2-pt. conversion, and passed for a 2-pt. conversion.
