Photos by Jammie Graves
On Saturday, January 15th, 2005; the Loudon Quarterback Club held their annual awards banquet. The Loudon High School cafeteria was the location of this event. Mike Cartwright catered the barbeque dinner complete with all the fixings.
The 2004 football season was the most successful season in the history of the Loudon Quarterback Club, dating back to it’s origin in 1965. Going a combined 44-6, with all four football teams qualifying for the playoffs, plus all four teams earning berths in the Championship Game, and climaxing with two teams winning their respective Conference Championships! The Mustangs completed a dream season with a perfect 13-0 season. Winning the Championship for the first time in eight years, the Indians finish with a record of 12-1.
The cheerleading teams now have their own competitions, the Regional and Grand Championship. Below is how the LQC cheerleading teams stacked up against other conference teams:
Regional Grand Competition
Crickets 3rd Place did not place
Hoppers 4th Place 4th Place
Mustangs 2nd Place 3rd Place
Indians 1st Place 2nd Place
Note: the Mascot team is not eligible for these competitions. However they performed at all home games and some away games.
Last but not least, it was time to roast out going LQC President Jeff Nichols. Nichols has decided to step down and enjoy his youngest son Jeffery’s last year on the Hill. Jeff has worked extremely hard for the last seven years, four years as Vice President and three years as President. His wife, Marcie held several officer positions during that time as well. The LQC has grown and prospered under Nichols’ tenure, along with the support of countless volunteers. Nichols stated “All four football teams playing in the Championship Game plus the 114 car caravan to the Championships in Vonore was the perfect climax of my last year as President”.
