2005 Quarterback Club Award Banquet

On Saturday, January 21st, 2006, the Loudon Quarterback Club held their annual awards banquet. The Loudon High School cafeteria was the location of this big event. A homemade spaghetti dinner complete with all the fixings, was cooked-up by Vice President of Concessions Chef Jeff Trout and his entourage.

Two sessions were held. The Crickets and the Hoppers were first at 4:00pm, followed by the Mustangs and Indians at 6:00pm. After dinner everyone made their way to the auditorium for the presentation of trophies.

After the 2004 football season, which was the most successful season in the history of the Loudon Quarterback Club (dating back to it’s origin in 1965), it looks like at first glance the 2005 season was a bust. But was it? All four football teams earned play-off berths, with the Crickets completing a one loss season and wining the Conference Championship in the process! Overall, the four football teams combined for 29 wins verses 13 losses. A lot of people we play would love to have that overall record!

At the conclusion of the presentation of trophies for the Cricket Team, a season long promise was fulfilled. As everyone knows, Isaiah “The Tomahawk” Lowe fancies his long locks. Wearing his hair in a mullet with a rat tail, Isaiah hadn’t cut the rat tail for several years running. Now quoting Lowe who said many times, “If we win the Championship, Coach Clemmer, you can cut my rat tail at the banquet”.

And that’s exactly what happened! Assistant Coach Tommy Clemmer produces a pair of scissors and with a snip here and a snip there it’s done! The Crickets are Sequoyah Conference Champions!!!

The cheerleading teams now have their own conference competitions, the Sub-Regional and Grand Championship. Below is how the LQC cheerleading teams stacked up against other conference teams:

                               Eastern Sub Regional       Grand Competition

Crickets                         2nd Place                            4th Place

Hoppers                         3rd Place                            3rd Place

Mustangs                       3rd Place                            3rd Place

Indians                           3rd Place                            3rd Place

Note: the Mascot team is a developmental squad and as such is not eligible for these competitions; however, they performed at all our home games.

The banquet was a perfect climax to the 2005 Loudon Quarterback Club season. The annual business meeting and election of officers for the 2006 football season will be held on February 4th at 2:00pm at the police/fire building.
