A-E PINS DISTRICT LOSS ON REDSKINS
By Jeff McQueen "The Voice of the Hill" (Sept. 20, 2002)
The Austin-East Roadrunners were on the fast track, scoring three touchdowns
in the first quarter. Taking advantage of field position, A-E added two
more scores in the second period with four rushing touchdowns and a sixty-seven
yard pass. The Roadrunners were up 35-0 at the half.
After regrouping, the Redskin defense stepped up and held A-E out of the end zone
in the third stanza. Coach Harig played underclassmen the entire fourth
quarter, enabling them to gain valuable experience. The Redskins offense
never got untracked, as the Roadrunners held Loudon to less than 100 yards
offense.
Coach Harig said it would be easy to point fingers and place blame, but he
wanted the young Redskins to identify and correct their mistakes, concentrate on
improving, put this game behind them, and have a good week of practice.
Final score: A-E 50, Loudon 0.
The Redskins will host Sweetwater next Friday at Dukes Field. Kickoff
is at 7:30 p.m.
