REDSKINS SCALP CHIEFS
By Jeff McQueen the "Voice of the Hill" (9-14-2002)
The week was full of homecoming activities. Head coach Jeff Harig
warned his players not to get distracted and lose focus. Things didn't
start out well as the Redskins fumbled on their first two possessions. The
Sequoyah chiefs capitalized for seven points with Freeman (8) scoring six and
Arwood (44) scoring the extra point. On the ensuing kick off, Chad Oody
(2) returned the ball to the 18-yard line (a 78-yard return). Two plays
later Oody found Patric Johnson (1) for a 20-yard touchdown pass. Jake
Brantley (33) added a two-point conversion.
In the second quarter Johnson (1) scored on a two-yard run. Brantley
(33) added another two-point conversion. Late in the first half, the
Loudon special teams posted two scores. Chase Randolph (7) recovered a
fumbled Sequoyah kickoff return and ran it in for a seven-yard touchdown.
Adam Paramo (9) added the Extra point. On the next series, the Chiefs were
back to punt. The punt was blocked and Randolph (7) fell on the ball in
the end zone for a score. The extra point by Paramo (9) was no good.
At the half, Loudon lead Sequoyah 29 to 7.
To open the third period, the Redskins defense shut down the Chiefs.
Johnson (1) capped off a nice drive with a thirty-three yard touchdown. The
extra point by Paramo (9) was good.
Moving on to the fourth quarter, the Chiefs quarterback was back to
pass. Under heavy pressure, he coughed up the ball, Josh McQueen (80)
scooped up the loose ball and rambled thirty-one yards for the final score of
the night. The game ended LHS Redskins 43, Sequoyah Chiefs 7.
Loudon travels to Austin-East next Friday to take on the Roadrunners.
