Redskins 19 - Austin East 28

Due to a scheduling anomaly, the LHS Freshman Football Team had no place to play? It seems that the Lady Redskin Soccer Team had previously reserved the FOOTBALL field. A hasty deal was struck with the Loudon Quarterback Club. The four LQC teams would move their practice to the high school practice field, and the freshman team would play on “The Hill”. Problem solved. I’m going out on a limb here, by saying that the Redskins haven’t played on “The Hill” since mid-season 1966. Welcome home, Redskins!

Coach Brown got everyone fired-up! The ‘Skins received the opening kickoff and put together a nice seven play drive culminating in a 35 yard gold rush by #21 Charlie Hampton. With the #50 Tyler Roberts PAT, the score was 7-0, Big Red. Lightning struck on the ensuing kickoff, A-E took it to the house for an 80 yard TD return and added a 2-pt. conversion to lead 8-7. #8 Seth Lyle, the quarterback, added an 11 yard touchdown in the second stanza to put Loudon up 13-8 at the half.

n the third quarter, A-E posted TD runs of two and 13 yards respectively. Both squads aired it out for the final period. For Loudon, #8 Seth Lyle hooked up with #21 Charlie Hampton on a 20 yard pitch and catch. Touchdown Redskins! Not to be out done, A-E threw in a 20 yard TD pass. A good crowd was on hand for this game, the Loudon faithful always support their Redskins! Final score 28-19, Austin-East.
