It was Senior Night at Dukes Field, as the Redskin fans paid tribute to the departing seniors. Members of the football team, ladies soccer team, cheerleading squad, dance team, R.O.T.C., golf team, and the band members were honored in a pre-game ceremony. Senior Redskin football players are: #1Patric Johnson, #7 Chase Randolph, #8 Kevin Kirkland, #9 Sean Anderson, #10 Timmy Guider, #31 Chris Hutchens, #32 Tyler Foshee, #33 Jake Brantley, #41 Stan Helton, #52 Matt Brown, #55 C.J. Sharpe, #62 Marty Branum, #63 Lee Sarten, and #71 Josh Conner. Senior trainers Jessica Hunt and Melissa Sharp and manager George Plemons were also introduced.

The Redskins have only played Gibbs six times, holding a 4-2 advantage before tonight’s game. It was sweet revenge, atoning for last years double overtime loss to the Eagles, 25-22.

All the seniors represented the team as captains. The 'Skins won the toss and wanted the ball, although they couldn't sustain a drive, #4 Cody Fritts got off a nice punt. From there, the Eagles were back to pass, #8 Kevin Kirkland stepped in front of the Gibbs receiver for an interception. With the touchback, the Big Red started a seven play drive with #1 Patric Johnson breaking tackles in route to a 45 yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion was stuffed by the Eagle "D". Gibbs answered with a 22 yard score to take the lead 7-6 with 3:59 left in the first quarter. From there... it was all Redskins. #7 Chase Randolph returned the ensuing kickoff 63 yards. First and ten Redskins, ball on the 28 yard line. #1 Patric Johnson goes in on the next play, a 28 yard touchdown. The PAT by #15 Yoni Espinoza was good. The Gibbs quarterback was back to pass, the tipped ball was snagged by safety #80 Josh McQueen who streaked down the side line and dove into the endzone for a 46 yard INT return for the Redskin touchdown. On a halfback pass, #1 Johnson passed to #7 Chase Randolph for the 2-point conversion. #31 Chris Hutchens added a 31 yard score, #81 Adam Russell had an 11 yard TD reception called back by a penalty, after the step-off, #15 Espinoza kicked a 38 yard field goal, and #33 Jake Brantley posted a 46 yard touchdown on the last play of the first half. The Big Red cruised into the locker room leading 37-7.

Freshman #24 Josh Hawkins, ripped off a 78 yard gold rush in the third period; and the final score was by #22 Cody Wiggins for 5 yards in the fourth stanza. Plenty of underclassman logged playing time. The Big Red defense throttled the Eagles, with the two INTS and sacks by #52 Matt Brown, #63 Lee Sarten, and #81 Adam Russell; the Eagles were kept on their heals the entire game.

Next week, the Redskins (3-6) host the Lenoir City Panthers (5-4) at Dukes Field, in the annual "Battle of the Bridge", game time is 7:30 pm.
