Out for the coin toss were Redskin Captains: #31 Chris Hutchens, #52 Matt Brown, #53 Jimmy McQueen, and #63 Lee Sarten. The 'Cats won the toss and chose the ball. Loudon kicked off, and with the touchback, Sweetwater started on the 20 yard line. From there an 80 yard drive ended with a one yard dive by #1 Jeffery Moore, 7-0 'Cats. #7 Chase Randolph returned the kickoff 33 yards, first and 10 Redskins on the 46 yard line. On the third play of the drive, #4 Cody Fritts threw an interception. Jam Ferguson #12 turned the turnover into seven points. With 4:20 left in the first quarter, ths 'Skins were down 14-0. The Wildcats forced a Loudon punt. Back in business, the Sweetwater offense was marching up field, #33 Jake Brantley scooped and scored on a 35 yard fumble return. On the next series, #8 Kevin Kirkland intercepted an errant pass to stop a Sweetwater score and give the offense back the ball on the six yard line. Five yards were gained up the middle. On the next play, #4 Cody Fritts hooked up with #7 Chase Randolph for an 89 yard touchdown pass. This play broke the LHS record for the longest touchdown pass. Sweetwater returned the kickoff 19 yards, but with a penalty started on their own nine yard line. #1 Partic Johnson recovered the Wildcat fumble on the seven yard line, on the next play he scored and added the 2-point conversion himself. Jake Brantley #33, added a 24 yard TD scamper in the second stanza. After spotting the Wildcats 14 points, the Redskins are now leading 28 to 21 at the half.
The 'Skins received the second half kickoff. Three plays later, #1 Patric Johnson rambled for a 53 yard TD. Also in the third period, Johnson would post a 40 yard scoop and score on a blotched Sweetwater punt attempt. The Wildcats were driving late in the fourth quarter, and the Redskins were leading 40-34. The deal breaker was a 27 yard TD pass to #12 Jam Ferguson, a pressure, game winning PAT by #15 John Michael Fox, sealed the victory for the 'Cats with 35 seconds left to play.
Final score, in a heart breaker, 41-40, Wildcats (2-3). Next week, the Redskins (1-4) travel to Fulton, game time is 7:30 pm.
