2004 Jamboree: Loudon vs. McMinn CentralLoudon 3 - McMinn Central 0Article by Jeff McQueen On Friday August 20, 2004 the Loudon Redskins hosted the 12th annual Henry Blackburn Jamboree. This event has grown every year and now 10 teams participate. Cheerleaders compete in several events and there is also a punt, pass, & kick competition plus foot races as well. Listed below are the match-ups, plus the scores:
The Redskins started on offense and were three and out. #4 Cody Fritts got off a nice punt of 49 yards. The Chargers gained 19 yards on two rushes earning a first down. On the next play, #53 Jimmy McQueen knifed through to tally a sack for -6 yards. From there #86 Jesse Henry picked off an errant pass and returned it 12 yards. The ‘Skin offense bogged down, sputtering and shooting themselves in the foot on several series. At one juncture, the Redskins committed three penalties in a row. Fritts punted two more times. With the period almost over and the score 0-0, McMinn was back to pass. #86 Jesse Henry snagged his second interception of the evening and returned it 22 yards. The clock showed 0:32 seconds remaining. #4 Cody Fritts threw the fade pass to his twin brother #21 Corry Fritts, incomplete. Next quarterback Fritts hooked up with #24 Josh Hawkins for a 29 yard reception and a first down. A seven yard aerial to #80 Josh McQueen on a slant route moved the ball down to the five-yard line. Out trotted Sr. place kicker #15 Yoni Espinoza to attempt a 22 yard field goal with four seconds on the clock. But first, a time out was called and both head coaches agreed to go live action on this kick, the last play of the game. It had to be perfect, #55 Tyler Roberts centered the ball back to #2 Wiley Brakebill, the holder. Snap, hold, and kick. Give him three!
