2004 Redskins Spring Practice Scrimmage

Monday, June 14 2004
By Jeff McQueen

On Friday, May 11, 2004, the Redskins hosted the Mt. Juliet Bears (4A) in a passing scrimmage. The Bears were on their way home after attending the Coach Phillip Fulmer Football Camp. Although Mt. Juliet (located 30 miles east of Nashville) boasts an explosive offensive, they could only muster a 4-6 record last season. With a 30+ point scoring average, it’s hard to explain such a lack of defensive prowess. The Bears are led by Division I college quarterback prospect Levi Brown (6’-4”, 210 lbs). Brown, a rising senior, is being recruited by Mississippi State and ‘Ole Miss to just name a few. The crux of Mt. Juliet’s offensive pressure is a no huddle; flood the defense with three and four wide receivers blitz. Our Redskin defensive backs sure got a work out!

    Redskins:
  • Cody Fritts - 25 of 58 for 400 yds, 3 TD’s, & 2 INTs
  • Brandon Dixon - 0 of 5, with 2 INTs

  • Charlie Hampton - 4 receptions for 40 yds & a TD
  • Josh Hawkins - 6 receptions for 175 yds & a TD
  • Jesse Henry - 5 receptions for 95 yds & a TD
  • Big Ace Henry - 4 receptions for 41 yds & a TD
